Dear Target
Did you know that the first thing I did when I walked into your small town store was look for a “Caroline’s Cart?” Thank you.
Did you know that a well-meaning employee asked me if I would rather use a different cart and I was reminded that sometimes special needs can be hidden but that doesn’t mean I have to hide? Thank you.
Did you know that trip was the first time in over a year that I took all four of my children shopping and we didn’t have to call it quits? Thank you.
Did you know that my son Amos can walk but prefers to be held and only goes in directions that he chooses? Thank you.
Did you know that my older three children had time to peruse the book section and I was able to listen and talk to them thoughtfully about what books they liked? Thank you.
Did you know my older son looked a bit downtrodden when I placed his youngest brother in the cart, but before long he was smiling and insisting on doing the pushing? Thank you.
Did you know that our Amos was happy to sit and look at books and toys as we walked around feeling proud? Thank you.
Did you know that purchasing those carts for each of your stores would make a mother’s heart so very full? Thank you.
Did you know that I have shamefully made my oldest sit in the car with my youngest because it’s just not always worth it to wrestle a three year old as I try to get necessities? Thank you.
Did you know that this trip to Target made us feel like a normal family? Thank you.
Did you know that I consider Caroline’s mom my new heroine and will you please tell her how happy her cart made a mom and her four little people? Thank you.
